what are varicose veins?
Varicose veins, also known as varicoses or varicosities, occur when your veins become enlarged, dilated, and overfilled with blood.
Varicose veins typically appear swollen and raised, and have a bluish-purple or red color.
They are often painful. The condition is very common, especially in women.
We have type of this varicose veins on legs , hand, even face ..
Telangiectasia is kind of them which apear on legs usually. They make legs so weird and ugly.
Causes of varicose veins
Varicose veins develop when the small valves inside the veins stop working properly.
In a healthy vein, blood flows smoothly to the heart. The blood is prevented from flowing backwards by a series of tiny valves that open and close to let blood through.
If the valves weaken or are damaged, the blood can flow backwards and collect in the vein, eventually causing it to be swollen and enlarged (varicose).
Certain things can increase your chances of developing varicose veins, such as:
1. Having a close family member with varicose veins
2. Being older
3. Being overweight(obesity)
4. Having a job that involves long periods of standing or even seating
5. Being pregnant
6. Loosing weight suddenly
7. Smoking and drinking alcohol
